Hector “Toe” Blake Golf Tournament – 16th edition

On August 22nd, 2010, the 16th annual Hector "Toe" Blake Golf Tournament will be held, as a tribute to this legendary hockey player and coach of Montreal Canadiens who passed away after several years living with Alzheimer's disease. Each year, dozens of Canadiens legends participate in this tournament. In all, more than one million dollars have been raised over the past fifteen years as part of this tournament.

With Guy Lafleur as honorary chairman, the event is held for the second time this year at Le Diamant Golf and Country Club. We wish to thank Mr. Amos Sochaczevski, great philanthropist and friend of the ASM through which we can occupy this exceptional place.

There is still time to register or become a partner sponsor of the event. For more information, visit our website or please contact Mr. Réginald Godin, Coordinator of Fundraising Development.

Canada by Bike 2010 - Laurie Comtois’ Great Adventure

Laurie Comtois left Montreal on June 30 to travel across Canada by bike in order to raise funds for the Alzheimer Society of Montreal. She whose grand-mother had Alzheimer’s disease has decided to combine her sport challenge to a fundraising in order to support the cause. This is why she sells her 5,000 km at a cost of $5 each. Over $3,000 were raised until now. Encourage her!

Even though she is almost done biking across Ontario, she is still several kilometres away from her objective: Vancouver. You can follow Laurie’s adventures on her blog, which she updates as regularly as possible.

Every Monday during the summer, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Amélie Giguère, Communications Coordinator at the Alzheimer Society of Montreal, comments on Laurie’s adventures on Radio Centre-Ville, 102.3 FM (in French only).

2010 Forget-Me-Not Exhibit

On Sunday, August 22nd, Mr. Maurice Proulx will host the 2010 Forget-Me-Not Exhibit, in the flower gardens of his house in Notre-Dame-de-Grace.

Organized by the latter, whose wife is affected by Alzheimer's disease at an advanced stage, the exhibition brings together paintings by a score of professional artists and amateurs. They have agreed to sell their art work in order to support the Alzheimer Society of Montreal and its mission. Some paintings have also been produced by Mr. Proulx.

The sale of art works will take place as a silent auction, which details will be provided on the day of the exhibition.
